SUBJECT:	Expanded Project Graduation Reading and Writing Modules

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce the posting of expanded Project Graduation Reading and Writing Modules with the other resources available to high school English teachers.

The modules offer teachers over 75 one-hour lesson plans aligned to the 2002 English Standards of Learning. The reading modules provide lessons on reading comprehension strategies using both nonfiction and informational texts from Web-based resources. The writing modules present strategies for developing strong essays and include examples of activities using Virginias three-domain rubric: composing; written expression; usage and mechanics. This resource is not a complete curriculum and is neither required nor prescriptive, but it can be a valuable instructional tool.
