Virginias Preschool Curriculum Review Rubric and Planning Tool

The Department of Education is pleased to announce Virginias Preschool Curriculum Review Rubric and Planning Tool that will serve as an invaluable resource to assist curriculum specialists and practitioners in developing an appropriate curricula and/or analyzing their current curricula in regard to alignment with Virginias Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. Development of the Curriculum Review Rubric and Planning Tool was made possible by a grant awarded to the Virginia Board of Education by the National Association of State Boards of Education.

The rubric is designed to complement the Foundation Blocks by allowing educators the latitude to decide whether or not the proposed or selected curricula meet the high standards and expectations set forth in the Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. Specific criteria have been developed to assist the curriculum team at the local level to determine the applicability of the curricula.
