Training Opportunity: Medicaid and Schools

 

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce a training opportunity in Medicaid reimbursement and documentation procedures for all school divisions. The training will be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007, 7:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007, 7:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m.

 

Topics to be addressed are:

 

  • Medicaid Legislative Updates
  • Cost Based Reimbursement
  • Medicaid Eligibility Matching
  • Medicaid Administrative Claiming
  • Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT)
  • Rehabilitative services

 

-         Psychological services

 

-         Skilled nursing services

 

-         Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology services

 

-         Audiology services

 

-         Medical Evaluations

 

-         Personal care assistants

 

  • Transportation Services

 

  • Submission of claims

 

  • CEUs for Board of Psychology licensed Psychologist and licensed Social Workers

 

Training on Tuesday regarding Medicaid documentation requirements is designed for occupational, physical, and speech-language therapists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, special education aides, clinic aides (school division personnel and outside contracted agency personnel). Special education directors, special education supervisors, school nurse coordinators, and school financial officers will also receive information on how to implement and manage the Medicaid billing program. It is highly recommended that a finance officer attend this training because of recent changes regarding cost-based reimbursement.

 

Training on Wednesday is designed for Medicaid service program administrators and program administrators who would oversee or implement the Medicaid Program, which includes audiology services, medical evaluations, psychological services, transportation services, cost-based reimbursement, Medicaid Administrative Claiming Time Study and Financial Reports, and Family Access to Medical Insurance Securities (FAMIS).

 

 

The Virginia Department of Education will provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon break on Tuesday and on Wednesday. Participants will be responsible for their own lodging. There will be exhibitors from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. on Monday, during registration, and 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
