ADMINISTRATIVE
| TO: | Division Superintendents |
| FROM: | Billy K. Cannaday, Jr. Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | Charter School Report for 2007-2008 |
Section 22.1-212.11. of the Code of Virginia requires local school boards to report annually to the Board of Education the number of public charter school applications that were granted or denied, the reasons for such denials, and whether the charter was designed to increase the education opportunities of at-risk students. After the information is collected, the Board of Education must report the findings to the Governor and the General Assembly.
To comply with this legislative requirement, school divisions must complete the attached Charter School Report for the 2007-2008 school year by May 30, 2008, and fax it to Diane Jay, associate director, in the Office of Program Administration and Accountability. The fax number is (804) 371-7347. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Jay by e-mail at Diane.Jay@doe.virginia.gov, or by telephone at (804) 225-2905.
