FROM:

Billy K. Cannaday, Jr.

Superintendent of Public Instruction

SUBJECT:

2007-2008 End-of-Year Student Record Collection and Miscellaneous Statistics

DUE: July 16, 2008

To comply with the information and reporting requirements for adequate yearly progress, report cards, and performance indicators of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), the Department of Education is conducting the End-of-Year Student Record Collection (EOY SRC) for the 2007-2008 school year.

The 2007-2008 End-of-Year Student Record Collection should reflect students' records as of the last day of the 2007- 2008 school year. The End-of-Year Collection also includes a Web-based entry form to collect the number of days in session as well as the number of instructional hours at each school.

New for this year, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Completer Demographics data will be included in the EOY SRC.

A detailed listing of the data elements on the student record, the aggregate data collected on the Web-based form, the completer demographic information, and instructions for completing and submitting the data can be found on the Virginia Department of Education's website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Publications/student-coll/new_coll.html. Additional resources to help divisions merge the CTE Completer Demographics collection with the EOY SRC are available at this website as well.

Data are required by the Department of Education on or before the closing date of July 16, 2008. Early submission and verification is strongly encouraged.

The End-of-Year Student Record Collection will be open and accessible through the Single Sign-on for Web Systems (SSWS) on June 1, 2008.

Questions or comments relating to the 2007-2008 End-of-Year Student Record Collection should be directed to Educational Applications at RESULTSHELP@doe.virginia.gov or (804) 786-3112 (option 4).
