Implications
of Digital Conversion for |
In
2009, all television broadcast signals will be converted from an analog signal
to digital transmission. To inform school divisions about the implications, the
Office of Educational Technology has prepared an information brief that
addresses not only the necessary technical requirements but also the potential
for expanded services to divisions. The brief offers background information,
technical support, and links to related resources. It may be found at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Technology/OET/info_brief_digital_conversion.pdf.
Efforts
are underway to educate parents, teachers, and administrators about the digital
transition.
Members
of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) DTV Speakers Bureau will
participate in presentations to educate viewers about the digital television
transition. The broadcasters are willing to visit schools to explain the
transition and help students, parents, and administrators prepare for the
changes. Additional information may be found at www.dtvanswers.com.
To schedule a speaker from the NAB DTV Speakers Bureau, you may contact Dan
Woodley at dwoodley@crosbyvolmer.com or (202)

Linda Holt, educational technology specialist, via e-mail at linda.holt@doe.virginia.gov or
telephone (804) 786-5149.
