Seminar
for Teachers of Algebra, Functions, and
Data Analysis |
A
two-day seminar for teachers of the new, optional, high school course, Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis,
will be held in Fredericksburg at Massaponax High
School on June 16-17, 2008. The seminar
is for persons who will be teaching the course during the 2008-2009 academic
year and will focus on using available technologies to build concepts in the
specified content. The seminar is
sponsored by Texas Instruments and facilitated by the Virginia Department of
Education. The seminar will consist of
four 3-hour sessions, two sessions per day.
Each participant will be in all four sessions. Session instructors are part of Texas
Instrument's Teachers Teaching Teachers (T3) professional development
program. Participants will be eligible
for recertification points, pending approval by individual school
divisions.
Eighty
teachers will be able to participate.
Participation will be first-come, first-served, and the attached teacher
registration form must be signed by the school principal. Only one teacher from a school division will
be selected. Others will be placed on a
waiting list pending the registration deadline. Lunch and light snacks will be provided each
day. Participants will be responsible
for all other expenses. A list of local
hotels will be provided when selection is confirmed. Registration forms must be submitted by May
2, 2008.
