A two-day seminar for teachers of the new, optional, high school course, Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis, will be held in Fredericksburg at Massaponax High School on June 16-17, 2008. The seminar is for persons who will be teaching the course during the 2008-2009 academic year and will focus on using available technologies to build concepts in the specified content. The seminar is sponsored by Texas Instruments and facilitated by the Virginia Department of Education. The seminar will consist of four 3-hour sessions, two sessions per day. Each participant will be in all four sessions. Session instructors are part of Texas Instrument's Teachers Teaching Teachers (T3) professional development program. Participants will be eligible for recertification points, pending approval by individual school divisions.

Eighty teachers will be able to participate. Participation will be first-come, first-served, and the attached teacher registration form must be signed by the school principal. Only one teacher from a school division will be selected. Others will be placed on a waiting list pending the registration deadline. Lunch and light snacks will be provided each day. Participants will be responsible for all other expenses. A list of local hotels will be provided when selection is confirmed. Registration forms must be submitted by May 2, 2008.
