Nominations for the Governor's Career and Technical Education Exemplary Standards Awards

The Virginia Career Education Foundation (VCEF) is accepting nominations for the Governor's Career and Technical Education Exemplary Standards Awards. The awards program is part of Virginia's grant from the National Governors Association (NGA) Center for Best Practices to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. The standards serve as the benchmark for Career and Technical Education programs in Virginia that aspire to program improvement and program excellence.

The first Governor's Career and Technical Education Exemplary Standards Awards will be made in November 2008. In addition to the state recognition, winners will receive a $5,000 grant to pursue continued program improvement activities. Nominations of outstanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are due May 16, 2008. Additional documentation to complete the nomination form is due November 7, 2008. Finalists from the application review will have an on-site visit and interviews to determine award recipients.

The Governor's Career and Technical Education Standards, the nomination form and additional application information are available on the VCEF website at www.vcef.net.
