As part of the Virginia Department of
Education's ongoing effort to comply with requirements for implementation of the World-Class
Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) English Language Proficiency (ELP)
Standards, a companion resource document has been prepared. The companion document is posted on the Virginia
Department of Education English as a Second Language (ESL) Web page under
Resource Documents for ESL Teachers and Administrators. The document contains the WIDA
ELP Standards, language proficiency levels, performance definitions,
and the formative and summative model performance indicators for each of the
four language domains and five grade clusters.
