Comment on the Proposed Revisions to the Regulations
Governing Educational Services for Gifted Students |
The
Regulations Governing Educational
Services for Gifted Students (8VAC
20-40-30 et. seq.) were approved in 1993 and became effective in 1995. At its meeting on September 27, 2006, the
Virginia Board of Education approved initiating the regulatory process leading
to the revision of the regulations. Over the past two years, the Department of
Education has worked to revise the regulations in keeping with the Code of Virginia. The proposed revised regulations were
released for public comment through the

current regulations are available at the Department of Education's website (http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Instruction/Gifted/gftregs.pdf). The proposed revised regulations are
available at the Town Hall website and on the Department of Education's Web
page under the heading of Announcements.
Public
comment regarding the proposed revised regulations may be offered any time
during the regulatory process. Comments
can be made through the Town Hall website, through electronic submission to giftedregulations@doe.virginia.gov,
or at four public hearings scheduled throughout the Commonwealth as follows:
