SUBJECT: |
Title III:
Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Immigrant
Students Data Collection |
In order to
comply with the reporting requirements stipulated in Sections 3121(a)(2)(3) and 3122(b) of the No Child Left Behind Act of
2001, Title III: Language
Instruction for Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Immigrant Students, school
divisions must report annually the number or percentage of LEP students making
progress in learning English, as well as the number or percentage of LEP
students attaining full English proficiency.
To ensure
accuracy in reporting, a Web-based system will be used to enter the required
data for the 2007-2008 school year. School divisions should complete the
Web-based application for all K-12 LEP students. To complete the Web-based
application, school divisions will enter two data points, the 2008-2009 state
LEP status code and the 2008-2009 LEP proficiency code based on the results of
their performance on the spring 2008 state-approved English language
proficiency assessment, or as a result of a body of evidence that includes the
state-approved English language proficiency results.
The
Title III Data Reporting System will be available by August 1, 2008, via the Single
Sign-on for Web Systems(SSWS) at the following link:
https://p1pe.doe.virginia.gov/ssws/login.page.do. Detailed instructions for completing the
report are included on the website. The
deadline for submission is August 22, 2008.

questions regarding the report, please contact Megan Moore, education specialist,
