The Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals (VAESP), the
Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and the National Association of
Elementary School Principals (NAESP) extend an invitation to all division super-intendents,
principals, assistant principals, and instructional leaders to attend the 2008 Annual Principals Conference that will be held November 12-14, 2008, at The
Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia.
The preconference on November 12, 2008, will be conducted by school
scheduling experts Dr. Michael D. Rettig
and Dr. Robert Lynn Canady. This
day-long session will outline challenges which have been identified with typical
elementary school schedules and provide solutions for these challenges. Part of the session will include time for
participants to begin to construct school schedules on their own, using the
Excel templates provided.
November 13-14, 2008, will provide attendees the opportunities to hear
keynote presentations by Dr. Jim Grant,
Dr. Diane Hodges, and Stephen Peters.
Current building level practitioners and members of the VDOE staff will
offer presentations on issues facing education leaders. Assistant Superintendent for Teacher
Education and Licensure at the VDOE, Patty Pitts, will provide an update on the
Level I and Level II principal certification standards.
