Use of Scores
Resulting from Double Testing |
The Regulations Establishing Standards for
Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia--2006 at 8 VAC 20-131-30 B. state,
In kindergarten through eighth grade, where the administration of Virginia
assessment program tests are required by the Board of Education, each student
shall be expected to take the tests; accelerated students should take the tests
for the grade level of the content received in instruction. Some school divisions have continued the
practice of testing students on both the grade level test and the test that
measures the accelerated content being provided in instruction. Please be advised that in cases where
students in grades 3-8 have been double tested, only one test score, that of
the accelerated content, will be counted in the calculation of Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP) and accreditation for the 2009-2010 school year based on tests
taken in 2008-2009.
If you have
questions or need additional information, please contact the office of Test
Administration, Scoring, and Reporting by e-mail at Student_Assessment@doe.virginia.gov
or by telephone at (804) 225-2107.
