Amendments to the Regulations Governing the Virginia Teaching Scholarship
Loan Program Requirements and Selection Procedures |
Section 22.1-290.01 of the Code of Virginia establishes the
Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan Program (VTSLP). The Virginia Board of
Education administers the VTSLP to support teacher candidates in the critical
teaching shortage areas. The Code stipulates
that the Board may promulgate such regulations as may be necessary for the
implementation of the VTSLP.
On November 29, 2007,
the Virginia Board of Education approved technical amendments to the Regulations
Governing the Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan Program Requirements and
Selection Procedures (8 VAC 20-650-30). The Administrative Process
Act exempts revisions to regulations that are necessary to conform to changes

existing Regulations Governing the Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan
Program Requirements and Selection Procedures include (1) deletion of the
requirement to include one Commonwealth Scholarship from each college or
university, (2) alignment of revised parameters for eligibility, and (3)
procedures for a selection panel when the teacher education program
recommendations for scholarships exceed the appropriation. You may review the full text of the
