TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
The Building-Level Technology Status Report is used by the Virginia Department of Education to satisfy state and federal accountability requirements. Information gathered is also used to inform the state’s six-year technology plan as well as to develop professional development, pilot projects, information briefs, and many other outreach services to Virginia school divisions. This report must be completed by all schools by May 29, 2009.
This report should take only a few minutes to complete if you gather the information you need ahead of time. Most of the information needed can be taken from various records you may already have including technology inventories, information about your Internet and other infrastructure provider(s), and student/teacher technology literacy records. More than one person may help complete the report, but one person must be the point of contact for the school.
We are using the reporting mechanisms on the website, http://www.psychdata.com, and each point of contact should create an account (using their e-mail address and a password they choose) so that the report can be completed in stages if needed.
If you have questions or would like to have a text copy of the survey before you begin, please contact Jean Weller by e-mail at jean.weller@doe.virginia.gov or by phone at (804) 225-2825.
