The Office of Test Administration, Scoring, and Reporting is seeking nominees for the 2009 Alternate ACCESS for ELLs Item Development Committees. The Alternate ACCESS for ELLs is an alternate English language proficiency (ELP) assessment for limited English proficient (LEP) students with significant cognitive disabilities. It is based on the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium ELP standards and model performance indicators.
The committees will review and revise existing Alternate ACCESS for ELLs items and develop new items for the 2009-2010 pilot test. The committee meetings will be held July 14-15, 2009, at the Westin Richmond Hotel, Richmond, Virginia.

All nominees must submit an application through the Web-based process, Assessment Committee Application Processing System (ACAPS). ACAPS is a “paperless” system for the submission and review of assessment committee applications from educators in Virginia public schools. The Web-based application process requires one professional reference and the division superintendent’s or superintendent’s designee approval. An Internet browser must be used to access ACAPS at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/testing/assessment_committees/index.shtml.
Completed Web-based applications are due to the Virginia Department of Education by June 5, 2009.
