SUBJECT: Release of Spring 2009 Standards of Learning Tests in Spring 2010 Amended
The spring 2009 Standards of Learning (SOL) tests scheduled to be released in spring 2010, as indicated in Superintendent's Memorandum number 174-09, dated July 3, 2009, have been amended. The Virginia Department of Education is planning to release the following spring 2009 SOL tests in spring 2010:
- Grades 3, 4, and 8 Reading
- Grades 3 through 6, and 8 Mathematics
- Grades 3, 5, and 8 Science
- Grades 5 and 8 Writing
- End-of-Course (EOC) English: Reading
- End-of-Course (EOC) English: Writing
- EOC Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II
- EOC Chemistry
Due to the potential impact of releasing tests on the item banks, the spring 2009 Grades 5, 6, and 7 Reading, Grade 7 Mathematics, EOC Biology, EOC Earth Science, and all history/social science tests will not be released in spring 2010. Furthermore, these tests will not be eligible for review by school division personnel.
