FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
I am pleased to announce that The Virginia Bar Association (VBA) and The Virginia Law Foundation will hold the second annual Rule of Law Project on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Begun as a pilot project last year, the VBA's Rule of Law Project is an educational program taught by volunteer citizen lawyers in Virginia, and is specifically designed to enhance the teaching of the rule of law to middle school civics students in public and private schools throughout the state. The educational program materials for the VBA Rule of Law Project consist of:
The project and related materials have been developed by educators, administrators, parents, judges, and lawyers in collaboration with local school officials. All materials are aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning for Civics and Economics.
