SUBJECT: Reimbursement of Tuition for Eligible Students With Disabilities Attending Certain Regional Special Education Programs during the Period February 1, 2009, through June 30, 2009
Attached are instructions for claiming reimbursement for services provided by certain regional special education programs that have been approved by the state. Included with the instructions is a list providing the name of each regional program and school code number.
Reimbursement requests must be submitted via the Virginia Department of Education's (VDOE) Web-based SPEDSYS reporting system, and received no later than November 6, 2009. If you do NOT plan to submit a claim for reimbursement under this program, notify the VDOE no later than November 6, 2009 (see attached instructions).
Students with disabilities being served in approved regional programs are not eligible for Average Daily Membership (ADM) or other state aid if reimbursement is claimed under this funding program. Reimbursement from state special education funds is based on compliance with regulations of the Board of Education as certified by the division superintendent.
The VDOE will process all data received by the submission deadline and transmit verification reports to division superintendents for review and final certification. School divisions may expect funds to be deposited to their accounts in December 2009.
