SUBJECT: Governor's Conference for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education
Virginia Tech will host the Governor's Conference for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education on November 15 and 16, 2009. The event promises to provide key STEM stakeholders from formal and informal learning environments, government agencies, policymakers, and the corporate sector an opportunity to create a blueprint for the future of STEM education in Virginia.
Additional objectives of the conference include:
- To highlight successful STEM efforts across all sectors to showcase the range of opportunities currently available
- To extract the principles, policies, and practices that have yielded evidence-based success in STEM education and formulate a monograph that can be shared with all stakeholders
- To begin the process of creating a statewide blueprint for PK-16 STEM learning both in and out of school
The registration deadline is November 2, 2009. Registration fees include concurrent and general sessions, conference materials, a reception on Sunday, November 15 and breakfast, refreshment breaks, and lunch on November 16.
