The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has received approval from the United States Department of Education (USED) to accept waiver requests from school divisions for certain Title I, Part A, requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), as allowable under the USED Draft Nonregulatory Guidance on Title I, Part A, Waivers July 2009. School divisions that received Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 ARRA Title I, Part A, funds are eligible to apply for waivers from certain Title I requirements as follows.
All School Divisions
All school divisions are eligible to apply for a waiver that will allow them to carry over FY 2009, ARRA Title I, Part A, funds in excess of the 15 percent carry over limitation once every three years.
School Divisions with Title I Schools in Improvement
School divisions with Title I schools in Title I School Improvement are eligible to apply for as many of the waivers listed below as desired.
Eligible school divisions that would like to apply for waivers will need to indicate which waivers they are interested in requesting by completing the attached waiver application form. The form should be submitted on or before November 20, 2009, to Marsha Granderson, reports and grants manager, at TitleIintent@doe.virginia.gov or by fax to (804) 371-7347.
