The Virginia Department of Education has made changes to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student Competency Records (SCR) associated with each CTE course offered in the Commonwealth.
The SCR is now available in an unprotected Word file with no fill-in fields and also in a CSV file, which will open in Excel or any other spreadsheet application, again with no locked components. Both may be found in Virginia’s Educational Resource System Online (VERSO), at http://www.cteresource.org/verso2/search. Users should select the desired program area in the left-hand column and then select the specific course of interest. The two SCR choices for the selected course will then appear in the left-hand column.
To adhere to the requirements of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, CTE educators must continue to ensure that all required or “essential” competencies are taught in every CTE course. These are clearly noted in each course task list and SCR.
For more information about the changes to these Student Competency Records, please contact Elizabeth Russell, director for the Office of Career and Technical Education Services, via e-mail at Elizabeth.Russell@doe.virginia.gov or by telephone at 804-225-2847.
