The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce the Career and Technical Education Creating Excellence Awards Program for 2009-2010. The Virginia Board of Education in cooperation with the Advisory Committee for Career and Technical Education will continue to present the business and industry partnership and advisory council/committee awards. The number of awards will be limited to one award for a business and industry partnership; and one award for an advisory council/committee for each of the eight Superintendents’ Regions. Applicants for the Individual Educator Award and the Group Educator Award may also submit PowerPoint or jpeg files on their projects or activities.
The local judging process must be completed by Friday, April 2, 2010. School divisions should submit their local winning nominations for awards directly to the Office of Career and Technical Education Services in Richmond by 4 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010. Please list legibly the name or names of the individuals, educators, business and industry, or council, as it should appear on the certificate of recognition. Regional award winners will be notified Monday, May 10, 2010. State award winners will be announced at the awards luncheon. The luncheon recognizing regional and state winners will be held at the Doubletree Richmond Airport Hotel, at Noon, Thursday, June 17, 2010.
Attached is a separate packet of information for each of the secondary categories in the Creating Excellence Awards Program. Please review each category’s packet carefully to ensure that all criteria and deadlines are met. The forms have been formatted to enable you to type in requested information.
