The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has developed an online reporting application for public school construction projects using VDOE’s Single Sign-on for Web Systems (SSWS). This new online system will replace the current hard-copy submission process for all public school construction projects. It is anticipated that this system will be available for use by March 1, 2010. Upon completion and activation of this reporting system, school divisions will be able to provide the following information online to VDOE:
For the system to function as designed, your school division’s VDOE SSWS account manager will need to identify the staff person who will serve in the role of “facility director.” This individual should be the person who is most actively involved in managing your school construction projects. It is highly recommended that this be done even if your school division is currently not planning any school building construction. If the identified “facility director” is not currently in the SSWS system, your SSWS account manager will need to create a new user account and assign the SSWS “School Building Construction and Renovation (SBCR)” system privileges to this person. At the discretion of your SSWS account manager, there could be more than one designated user of the SBCR system.
This Web-based system will require Internet access and a current web browser. This system will use VDOE’s Single Sign-on for Web Systems (SSWS). The SSWS system can be accessed at http://www.doe.virginia.gov, then click the “SSWS Login” link on the right-hand menu bar.
Instructions for using this SSWS application is provided in a document called “Facility Services School Building Construction Submission, Facility Directors SSWS User Guide,” which is available at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/facility_construction/school_construction/ssws_facilities_user_guide.doc.
It is recommended that the person assigned as the “facility director” for the division become familiar with the SBCR system and maintain an active user name and password even if no construction is currently planned.
As this system is implemented, your division’s input will be greatly appreciated.
