SUBJECT: Public Comment Period for Proposed Economics and Personal Finance Curriculum Framework

On March 18, 2010, the Virginia Board of Education accepted for first review the proposed Economics and Personal Finance Curriculum Framework. This document is being reviewed to reflect the new Economics and Personal Finance Standards of Learning adopted by the Virginia Board of Education on November 17, 2009.

The Board is now seeking public comment on the proposed Economics and Personal Finance Curriculum Framework. The Standards of Learning at the top of each page have already been approved by the Board of Education. The curriculum framework is intended to further explain these standards.

The Virginia Department of Education has posted links to the proposed Economics and Personal Finance Curriculum Framework on the Department of Education's website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/boe/meetings/2010/03_mar/agenda_items/item_d.pdf.

Public comment will be accepted beginning Friday, March 19, 2010, until Friday, April 23, 2010, and can be submitted via e-mail using the link below: econperfinancecf@doe.virginia.gov.
