The Virginia Department of Education will make available $2,247,581 in the fiscal year 2010-2011 to school divisions with Individual Student Alternative Education Plan (ISAEP) programs, as set forth in the Code of Virginia §22.1-254.D, and approved by the American Council on Education as a GED Option Program. It is the Department of Education’s goal that all school divisions participate in the ISAEP program. Funds will provide services for students 16 years of age and older who meet program provisions established in the Code of Virginia and guidelines of the Virginia Board of Education. The Board of Education’s ISAEP program guidelines may be found at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/instruction/isaep/index.shtml.
The application packet for ISAEP funds, which includes the 2010-2011 allocations for school divisions, is attached. Your application must be received in the Office of Adult Education and Literacy by 2 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), May 10, 2010. Please see the application packet for specific instructions about the submission of application materials. School divisions will be notified of funding awards after receipt and approval of program applications. If no program is planned, write your school division’s name and code, as well as the words “NO PROGRAM IS PLANNED,” on the face of the cover sheet that is included in the appendix of the application packet.
