The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) was recently awarded a longitudinal data systems grant from the United States Department of Education (USED). One of the highlights of the grant is funds for a competitive grant program for Virginia public school divisions. As the grant program is related to the data priorities of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund (SFSF), please make your data managers and accountability specialists aware of this opportunity.
The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) will conduct all aspects of the competitive grant program.
Key Dates in the grant program timeline are:
November 15, 2010 – Web site opens for grant submissions.

November 17, 2010 10 a.m. to noon – Informational webinar:

February 28, 2011 – Submission period ends.
March 31, 2011 – Announcement of Awards.
April 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013 – Awards period.
Eligible applicants must demonstrate a need for new, modified, or enhanced data systems to enable the school division to meet one or more data requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) efficiently.
