SUBJECT: Payment of State Funds for the National School Lunch Program
Federal Regulations (7CFR 210.17) require states to appropriate a minimum level of state funds to be paid as reimbursement to school divisions that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The required minimum funding level for Virginia is $5,801,932.
The per meal lunch reimbursement rate is calculated by dividing the funding level by the total number of lunches claimed for reimbursement in the previous school year. The per meal reimbursement rate for lunches served in the 2009-2010 school year is $0.048151. Attached is a chart that details the NSLP state reimbursement payment for each school division.
The state lunch reimbursement will be paid on January 14, 2011, by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). These funds must be credited to the school nutrition account and will be identified on the EDI notice as School Lunch State Match – revenue source code 240215.
