The Department of Education is pleased to announce the Sixth Annual Rural and Low-Income School Program Symposium in collaboration with Title III, Part A, Limited English Proficient (LEP) Program and Title I, Part C, Education of Migratory Children Program. The two-day symposium on Terms of Engagement: High-Yield Tools for Diverse Learners will be facilitated by Dr. Valerie Gregory and Dr. Jan Rozzelle from the School-University Research Network (SURN) at the College of William and Mary.
The symposium will focus on the following guiding questions:
The symposium will be held at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, Virginia, on March 29-31, 2011. Registration will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29. The symposium will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, and will end at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31. School divisions that are recipients of Title VI, Part B, Subpart 2, Title III, Part A, and Title I, Part C, funds are invited to send coordinators, teachers, and other division representatives to this symposium.
The Office of Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech will manage the online registration. The link is: http://www.cpe.vt.edu/reg/rss/. The online registration must be completed by Tuesday, March 22. If assistance is needed, please contact Virginia Tech's main registration office at (504) 231-5182. Continental breakfasts, breaks, lunches, and lodging will be provided by the Virginia Department of Education. Other allowable expenses may be charged to the respective local federal program budget.
