SUBJECT: Character Education Lessons at the Infinite Learning Lab

Six character education lessons are now available at the Infinite Learning Lab (http://www.learninglab.org/), a Web site developed by the Virginia Department of Education and the Professor Garfield Foundation. These episodes star Garfield and other characters from the popular cartoon strip created by Jim Davis and include lessons on diversity, giving back, listening skills, peer pressure, self-control, and self-esteem.

The lessons include animated videos, interactive activities, and resources for teachers, parents, and students. After watching each feature, students can interact with an animated character and apply what they have learned through a series of challenges that reinforce the information and concepts conveyed in the segments. This resource is available at no cost to all schools in Virginia.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Dr. Tammy McGraw, director of educational technology, via e-mail at tammy.mcgraw@doe.virginia.gov or by phone at (804) 692-0334.
