SUBJECT: Passing Scores for the Praxis II Technology Education and Art: Content Knowledge Assessments

The Board of Education prescribes the professional teacher’s assessment requirements for initial licensure in Virginia as set forth in Section 22.1-298.1 of the Code of Virginia.  The Praxis II ® Subject Assessments are required for endorsement (content) areas.  The Educational Testing Service (ETS) has revised the Praxis II Technology Education and Art: Content Knowledge assessments through the test regeneration process.

Effective September 1, 2011, ETS will administer a new version of the Praxis II Technology Education assessment.  The revised assessment, Praxis II Technology Education (0051), will replace the current assessment, Technology Education (0050), which will be discontinued after the summer test administration.  At its meeting on March 24, 2011, the Board of Education approved a passing score of 162 for the new version of the assessment.

Effective September 1, 2011, ETS will administer a new version of the Praxis II Art: Content Knowledge assessment.  The revised assessment, Praxis II Art: Content Knowledge (0134), will replace the current assessment, Art: Content Knowledge (0133), which will be discontinued after the summer test administration.  At its meeting on March 24, 2011, the Board of Education approved a passing score of 158 for the new version of the assessment.

Score reports for individuals who took the Technology Education or Art : Content Knowledge assessments prior to September 2011 will be accepted for licensure provided the candidate met the passing score effective at the time the test was taken.  Information on professional teacher’s assessments in Virginia may be accessed at the following Web site:
