The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (the Act), Public Law 111-296, clarifies requirements for participation in evaluations and research in the Child Nutrition Programs. The purpose of this memorandum is to provide guidance on the implementation of this provision.
Section 305 of the Act amends the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (NSLA) to clarify that state agencies, local educational agencies, schools, institutions, facilities, and contractors participating in the Child Nutrition Programs authorized under the NSLA and Child Nutrition Act of 1966 are required to cooperate with U. S. Department of Agriculture officials and contractors conducting evaluations and research.
If there are questions or additional information is required, contact the school nutrition program specialist assigned to your division or office of school nutrition programs staff at (804) 225-2074.
