The 2011 Virginia Pupil Transportation Conference, sponsored by the Virginia Association for Pupil Transportation (VAPT) and supported by the Department of Education (DOE), will be held at the Norfolk Marriott in Norfolk, June 22-25, 2011.
Information regarding the details of the conference has been sent to the pupil transportation director in your school division. Registration is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, beginning at 11 a.m. VAPT is sponsoring a ROAD-E-O for bus drivers on Thursday.
Again this year, VAPT is combining the Special Needs Symposium previously held in April with the June conference. The conference will include several National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) classes, sessions on special needs transportation, and a workshop on “Routing Efficiency and Bus Stop Selections” by Mr. Derek Graham, North Carolina Section Chief of Transportation Services. Off-site technical maintenance training will be held for technicians and mechanics. Exhibitors will be present to discuss their products with drivers, technicians, and directors.
A special invitation is extended to division superintendents and other school personnel involved with or interested in pupil transportation. Registration information is contained in the package that was sent to your pupil transportation director and is also posted on the VAPT Web site at: http://www.vapt.org.
If you have any questions concerning this conference, please contact Michael Ashby, VAPT president and director of pupil transportation in Hanover County, at (804) 365-6520 or Ms. June Eanes, director of support services, at (804) 225-2037.
