The Virginia Career Education Foundation (VCEF) is accepting nominations for the third annual Governor’s Career and Technical Education Exemplary Standards Awards. The awards program began as part of Virginia’s grant from the National Governors Association (NGA) Center for Best Practices to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. The standards serve as the benchmark for career and technical education programs in Virginia that aspire to program improvement and program excellence.
Nominations of outstanding career and technical education (CTE) programs are due June 30, 2011. A technical assistance session will be scheduled during the summer. All documentation to complete the nomination process must be submitted online by the nominee by March 1, 2012. Based on the documentation review, the selection committee will conduct a site visit and interview of the finalists to determine award recipients.
The Governor’s Career and Technical Standards, the nomination form, and additional application information are available on the VCEF Web site at www.vcef.net. Questions concerning the awards program may be directed to Dr. Emily Richardson, president, Virginia Career Education Foundation, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone at (804) 615-1505.
