In accordance with the Code of Virginia at § 22.1-279.8, local school boards are required to annually review the written school crisis, emergency management, and medical emergency response plans of each public school within the school division. The division superintendent shall certify in writing that the review has taken place no later than August 31, 2011, to the Virginia Center for School Safety (VCSS) at the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
In order to certify the completion of the crisis plan review, division superintendents will utilize the Web-based “Survey Manager” Web site at:
VCSS will mail a username and password to access the Web site to each superintendent. After logging on to the “Survey Manager,” the superintendent will need only to provide his/her initials and select the “certification” button to complete the process. Additional information is available on the DCJS Web site at: http://www.dcjs.virginia.gov/vcss/.
