SUBJECT: Release of Spring 2011 Standards of Learning Tests in Spring 2012

The Virginia Department of Education is planning to release the following spring 2011 Standards of Learning (SOL) tests in spring 2012:

• Grades 3, 4, 5, 6,  and 7 Reading
• Grades 5 and 8 Writing
• Grade 5 Science

Due to the potential impact of releasing tests on the item banks, the spring 2011 Grade 3 Science, Grade 8 Science, end-of-course (EOC) Biology, EOC Earth Science, EOC Chemistry, EOC Reading, Grade 8 Reading, EOC Writing, and all mathematics and history/social science tests will not be released in spring 2012.
