Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is once again partnering with Radio Disney to bring the Get Active, Get Fit School Challenge to all elementary students in Virginia. This free program encourages healthy, active lifestyles with the goal of motivating families to incorporate fitness activities into their daily lives. Approximately 350 elementary schools and more than 158,000 students in Virginia participated in the challenge last year.
The deadline to register is September 30, 2011. To register go to www.GETACTIVEGETFIT.com. After completing the online registration form, schools can download the student, classroom and school tracking charts, and the "Get Active, Get Fit" school challenge poster. The first five schools that enroll in the program will receive a "Gym and Outdoor Deluxe Activity Kit" valued at more than $500.
Beginning October 3, 2011, and running through November 26, 2011, students in Virginia will have the opportunity to "move it" at home and at school while competing against other schools for the chance to win a Radio Disney Dance Party. Students will track their activities for a minimum of 20 minutes per day, for 30 out of the designated 45 days. The top 30 schools, with the largest percentage of students participating, will receive a live Radio Disney Dance Party. In December 2011, Radio Disney will run radio spots thanking schools for participating in the challenge and announcing the winning schools.
