On January 12, 2012, the Virginia Board of Education accepted for first review the list of proposed recommended textbooks for K-12 English Language Arts. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has provided this list on its Web site at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/boe/meetings/2012/01_jan/agenda_items/item_g.pdf.
The Virginia Board of Education is now seeking public comment on these textbooks. It intends to take final action on the recommended textbooks on March 22, 2012.
Review copies of all textbooks submitted for the current adoption cycle are available for public examination at various sites around the Commonwealth between January 16, 2012 and February 15, 2012.

Individuals are invited to examine the proposed recommended textbooks for K-12 English Language Arts at the examination sites and to submit written comments. Comments may be faxed to the VDOE at (804) 371-7585 or sent via mail to Tracy Fair Robertson, English coordinator, Virginia Department of Education, P. O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120. Comments may also be e-mailed to EnglishTextbooks@doe.virginia.gov. The Department of Education will begin to take public comments on January 16, 2012. Comments will be received through February 15, 2012.
