The Virginia Department of Education has scheduled this summer’s Health for Success training for July 8-11, 2012. The annual Health for Success training sessions provide technical assistance and professional development to teachers, instructional specialists, administrators, nurses, counselors, social workers, School Health Advisory Board members, community-based educators, certified health education specialists, and others involved in work affecting the health and safety of children and youth.
Informative sessions to be offered include:
Registration for the training is $100, and includes accommodations (double dormitory room), all meals, and training materials. Registration forms should be submitted to Elaine Kitchen, Virginia Department of Education, P.O. Box 2120, Richmond, VA 23218-2120 by June 1, 2012.
Health for Success training sessions may be used to meet training requirements set by the Board of Education guidelines which state:
Those individuals selected by the localities to teach the local Family Life Education program shall participate in the training program sponsored by the Department of Education. The training program shall include training in instructional elements to support the various curriculum components.
