SUBJECT:  House Bill 367 (McClellan) Department of Education; disciplinary offense and outcome data.

The purpose of this memo is to provide information about House Bill 367 passed during the 2012 General Assembly session to amend § 22.1-253.13:3 F of the Code of Virginia. House Bill 367 requires “the Board of Education to annually publish disciplinary offense and outcome data by race, ethnicity, gender and disability for each public school in the Commonwealth on its website.”

An expansion of discipline, crime, and violence data that appears on the Safe Schools Information Resource (SSIR) Web site is to include gender, race, ethnicity, and special education status for five school years (2006-2010).  The link to this Web site is https://p1pe.doe.virginia.gov/pti/.  This data will be available July 1, 2012. However, 2011-2012 school year data will not be posted until August because the collection will not be finalized until the end of August 2012.
