The 2012 Virginia Pupil Transportation conference, sponsored by the Virginia Association for Pupil Transportation (VAPT) and supported by the Department of Education (DOE), will be held at the Sheraton Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, June 18-21, 2012.
Information regarding the details of the conference has been sent to the pupil transportation director in your school division. Registration is scheduled for Monday, June 18, beginning at 11 a.m. The annual road-e-o for regular and special needs bus drivers will be held on Tuesday.
The conference will include several National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) classes, a session on special needs transportation, and a session by William Arrington, General Manager, Highway and Motor Carrier Division of the Transportation Security Administration. Other sessions will include “Love the Bus,” training documentation, and employee evaluations. Off-site technical maintenance training will be held for technicians and mechanics. Exhibitors will be present to discuss their products with drivers, technicians, and directors.
A special invitation is extended to division superintendents and other school personnel involved with or interested in pupil transportation. Registration information is contained in the package that was sent to your pupil transportation director and is also posted on the VAPT Web site at: http://www.vapt.org.
