SUBJECT:  Training for Automotive Technology Instructors

The Virginia Department of Education, in collaboration with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF), will conduct training for Automotive Technology instructors.  The training will include ASE certification and NATEF accreditation.  The training will be held at the Norfolk Technical Center, 1300 Military Highway, Norfolk, Virginia 23502, and will be offered in conjunction with the Virginia Association of Trade and Industrial Educators (VATIE) Summer Conference on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The agenda for the training includes the procedures involved to become ASE certified, CDX automotive training, a review of the NATEF standards for accreditation, and the process required for NATEF accreditation.  Registration for the training will be sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education.  Mileage, meals, hotel, and any other travel-related expenses will be the instructor’s responsibility.

To register for the ASE and NATEF training, please complete the attached registration form and return it by June 22, 2012, to the Office of Career and Technical Education Services at cte@doe.virginia.gov, or by fax at 804-530-4560.  The training capacity is limited and will be assigned upon receipt of the registration form.
