On July 26, 2012, the Virginia Board of Education accepted for first review the list of proposed recommended textbooks for K-12 science. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has provided this list on its Web site at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/boe/meetings/2012/07_jul/agenda_items/item_g.pdf.
The Virginia Board of Education is now seeking public comment on these textbooks. It intends to take final action on the recommended textbooks on September 27, 2012. Review copies of all textbooks submitted for the current approval cycle are available for public examination at various sites around the Commonwealth. The local examination sites include:

Individuals are invited to examine the proposed recommended textbooks for K-12 Science at the examination sites and to submit written comments. Comments may be faxed to the VDOE at (804) 786-1703 or sent via mail to Eric M. Rhoades, science coordinator, Virginia Department of Education, P. O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120. Comments may also be e-mailed to 2012ScienceTextbooks@doe.virginia.gov. The Department of Education will begin taking public comments on July 27, 2012. Comments will be received through August 26, 2012.
