In a continuing effort to increase the pool of qualified speech-language pathologists in Virginia public schools, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has budgeted funds to encourage professionals working in the private sector and recent graduates to accept positions in Virginia public schools. The Virginia Incentive Program for Speech-Language Pathologists (VIP-SLP) will be offered for one final year to speech-language pathologists (SLPs) employed as full or part-time in a Virginia public school division. The incentive amount for 2012-2013 will be $2,000 for full-time and $1,000 per year for part-time SLPs.
This incentive program is available to newly hired speech-language pathologists who hold a master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology and who meet the following qualifications:

Once employment has been secured, the speech-language pathologists should submit a completed application to the Virginia Department of Education. If the number of applications received exceeds funds available, financial incentives will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. School divisions will be awarded subgrants to fund eligible applicants during the second semester of the school year.
