TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
At the request of the Secretary of Public Safety, the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) will be conducting a forum entitled “Public School and Public Safety Partnerships: A Conversation to Address the Impact of Community Violence on Schools.”
This forum is designed to bring school superintendents and executive level law enforcement officers in your communities together to discuss criminal activities that affect our students. The issues identified will be based on the latest data and include teen dating, violence, drugs, gang violence, sexual harassment, cyberbullying, and human trafficking.
Through enhanced knowledge and partnerships, school leaders and local law enforcement can work to enhance the climate in our schools and communities.
