SUBJECT:  Anticipated Board Action on Recommended Cut Scores for New End-of-Course Tests in Reading, Earth Science, Biology and Chemistry

On November 29, 2012, the Virginia Board of Education accepted for first review recommended cut scores for the new End-of-Course tests in Reading, Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry based on the 2010 English and Science Standards of Learning.  A copy of the board item may be found at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/boe/meetings/2012/11_nov/agenda_items/item_h.pdf.

At its meeting on January 10, 2013, the Board is expected to take final action on the cut scores for these tests.  Comments or questions about the recommended cut scores should be directed to Shelley Loving-Ryder, assistant superintendent of student assessment and school improvement, at Student_Assessment@doe.virginia.gov or by phone at (804) 225-2102.
