COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA
Department of Education
April 12, 2013
TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
Effective with the 2012-13 school year, the Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE), in collaboration with the Career and Technical Education Consortium of States (CTECS), has eliminated the need for school divisions to report the Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth Examination (WRS) assessment results. The WRS examination results will be reported directly to the Virginia Department of Education from CTECS after each school division verifies the examination results. These data will be included on the Virginia School Report Card. In previous years, the WRS testing data were submitted by school divisions through the Career and Technical Education Credentialing Data Collections System within the Single Sign-on for Web Systems (SSWS) application.
Under a separate cover, CTECS will provide division CTE administrators details regarding the timeline and procedures for verifying WRS testing results for the 2012-2013 school year. It will be the responsibility of each school division to verify the accuracy of the data within the verification window and parameters set by CTECS.
If you have any questions, please contact George Willcox, CTE coordinator, Office of Career and Technical Education Services, at CTE@doe.virginia.gov or by telephone at 804-786-4206.
