SUBJECT:  Score Ranges for the Virginia Grade Level Alternative (VGLA) Assessments for  Grades 3-8 Reading and Grades 3, 5, and 8 Science Based on the 2010 English and Science Standards of Learning (SOL)

On May 23, 2013, the Virginia Board of Education adopted cut scores for the Virginia Grade Level Alternative (VGLA) in grades 3-8 reading and grades 3, 5, and 8 science based on the 2010 English and Science Standards of Learning (SOL). These cut scores will be applicable for VGLA collections of evidence beginning with the spring 2013 administration.

The chart below lists the score ranges for the achievement levels of pass/advanced, pass/proficient, fail/basic and fail/below basic for grades 3-8 reading and pass/advanced, pass/proficient, and fail for grades 3, 5, and 8 science based on the  cut scores adopted by the Board.
