The Virginia Board of Education is seeking teacher nominations to fill an unexpired term on the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure. The unexpired term for the vacancy is July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.
Please note that the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure requires specific categories of representation. For all advisory committees, the Board of Education seeks to have geographic and racial/ethnic representation among the appointees.
The current vacancy on the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure is for a secondary classroom career and technical education teacher. Nominations are requested for teacher nominees in Region 1. Priority consideration will be given to representation in this region.
Superintendents and other individuals and organizations are invited to recommend nominees to fill this current vacancy. Persons also are welcome to nominate themselves, if they wish to serve.
Article nine, Section 2, of the Bylaws of the Virginia Board of Education adopted in September 2004, states that advisory committees shall be composed of persons who represent the views and interests of the general public and who are known to be qualified to perform their duties. All appointments to an advisory committee shall be made by the Board upon the recommendations of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Findings and recommendations are provided to the Board of Education in a manner and at a time prescribed by the Board.
Nominations may be made by completing the attached recommendation form. Please send the completed form to Director for Board Relations Melissa Luchau, P.O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120. Nominations may also be submitted by e-mail at BOE@doe.virginia.gov. All nominations must be received by Monday, October 21.
