TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
This fall several sessions will be offered by Virginia Department of Education staff at two statewide educational technology conferences, the Educational Technology Leadership Conference (ETLC) in November and the Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) conference in December. These sessions will provide updates to division technology leaders on various technology issues and initiatives.
The 19th annual ETLC will be held November 4–6 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Williamsburg, and the overall theme is collaborative learning through technology. In keeping with the theme, ETLC organizers have arranged for the International Conference of Educational Innovation through Technology (EITT) to be held concurrently with the Educational Technology Leadership Conference. ETLC and EITT participants will have an opportunity to attend sessions in both conferences at no additional charge. Conference details are located at http://www.etlc13.org. If you have questions about ETLC, you may contact Ken Potter, Conference Chairperson, in the Center for Instructional Technology Solutions in Industry and Education at Virginia Tech at (540) 231-5587 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
The 28th annual Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) conference will be held December 8–10 at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke. There will be three days of presentations, hands-on sessions, and networking opportunities. The exhibit hall will be open on Monday and Tuesday. Also, once again this year, VSTE will be hosting an event on Sunday, December 8, for educational technology leaders, which is designed for division-level technology directors as they face the challenge of visioning, planning, and implementing educational technology. Additional conference information and registration may be found at http://www.vsteconference.org/.
